The 2008 Obion County Family and Community Education Clubs’ Dress Revue was held recently at the Obion County Farm Bureau building in Union City. FCE members entered items in 11 categories. There were 24 entries in sewn and purchased garments and 17 entries in the doll category. Entries were registered by Pleasant Valley FCE Club members. Weakley County FCE members served as judges in construction and modeling. FCE member Ella Nunley served as dressing room assistant. FCE member Mary Lois Owens gave a demonstration on garment construction, focusing on advance matching using stripes and patterns. She was named the overall Sweepstakes winner as she placed first in eight categories. She was presented a pair of Gingher™ scissors by Obion County Council president Nadine Killion. All first place winners will compete at the annual Mini Conference, which will be held in Paris on July 29. Refreshments were served after the revue. Published in The Messenger 6.25.08
