Miss Norquist, Coker to wed

The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Glenda Gale Norquist and Kenneth Edward Coker is being announced today. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Norquist Jr. of Troy and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Chalker of Union City. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Long and the late Mr. and Mrs. Roger Norquist Sr., all of Troy, and the late Glenda Long of Union City. She is a 1999 graduate of Obion County Central High School and a 2004 graduate of Dyersburg State Community College, where she earned an associate’s degree in psychology. She is employed with the Obion and Weakley county school systems as a substitute teacher. The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Coker of Gleason. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. N.C. Coker of Newbern and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie L. Tucker of Gleason. He is a 2001 graduate of Gleason High School. He is employed with The Messenger as a sports reporter. The couple will exchange vows at 2 p.m. at Mount Ararat Cumberland Presbyterian Church on July 13, with the Rev. Billy McGarrity officiating. A reception will follow in the church’s fellowship hall. All friends and family are encouraged to attend. Published in The Messenger 6.24.08
