LOS ANGELES (AP) — Candace Parker became the second woman to dunk in a WNBA game, helping Los Angeles beat Indiana 77-63.
Parker took a pass from Raffaella Masciadri, dribbled the length of the court and dunked with her right hand with 29 seconds to play in the game.
Her teammate Lisa Leslie is the only other WNBA player to do it, throwing a shot down during a game in 2002.
Parker finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and four assists.
Leslie added 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
DeLisha Milton-Jones and Temeka Johnson had 10 points apiece for the Sparks (9-3), who have won five of six.
Tamika Catchings scored 17 points in her first start of the season for the Fever (6-6), who lost for the third time in four games.
Liberty 105, Mercury 72
NEW YORK (AP) — Tiffany Jackson scored a career-high 21 points and the New York Liberty set a franchise scoring record with a 105-72 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.
The Liberty hit 11 3-pointers and shot 54 percent from the field to eclipse the mark of 95 points scored at Phoenix on June 21, 2001.
New York (6-5) was sparked by the return of Loree Moore, who missed the last five games with a back injury.
She had 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Diana Taurasi scored 21 points to lead Phoenix (4-7). She was trying to become only the second player in league history to have three straight 30-point games. Cynthia Cooper did it from July 18-25, 1997.
Shock 97, Dream 76
ATLANTA (AP) — Cheryl Ford had 20 points and 12 rebounds to help Detroit hand the expansion Dream their 13th straight loss to begin the season.
The Dream are the second team in WNBA history to open a season with 13 straight losses. Detroit started the 2003 season with a 0-13 record, then promptly won the league title the next year.
Tasha Humphrey and Katie Smith scored 16 points apiece for Detroit, which has won three in a row since losing consecutive games during a four-game road trip. Humphrey also had five steals.
Atlanta’s Ivory Latta scored a career-high 26 points and 10 assists. Betty Lennox scored five points on 2-for-6 shooting, while Iziane Castro Marques had 10 points.
Monarchs 82, Sky 70
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Crystal Kelly scored 13 points and Adrian Williams-Strong added 11 to lead Sacramento past Chicago.
Both Ticha Penicheiro and Kara Lawson had 10 points for the Monarchs (6-6). The victory, the 200th win in franchise history, snapped a two-game losing streak.
Jia Perkins scored 12 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter, and Candice Dupree had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Sky (3-8) in their fourth straight loss.
