100th birthday celebrated | Nan Prince
Nan Prince, a resident of Union City Manor Nursing Home, recently celebrated her 100th birthday with an open house held there. The event was hosted by her daughter, Joyce Overall; and her grandson and his family, Mark and Lynne Lowrance, Carl and Craig, all of Union City. Friends and members of the honoree’s church, First Baptist Church-Union City, served cake and punch. The honoree received many phone calls, including one from her nephew, Lynn McMullin of Horseshoe Lake, Ark., and one from her niece, Sue McMullin Waln of Dallas. She was born in Fulton County, Ky., on June 8, 1908, one of nine children, to the late Nannie (Rice) Corum and Mark Lafayette Corum. She graduated in 1926 from the former Sylvan Shade School in Fulton County. After graduation, she married the late Jewel Dawson “J.D.” Prince and lived in Union City, where she was employed at Brown Shoe Co. for many years. They had two children, the late Glenn Dawson Prince, who died in 1988, and Joyce Delene (Prince) Lowrance Overall. She also has six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
