Memphis pools to reopen July 2 with tougher rules

MEMPHIS (AP) — Memphis public swimming pools will reopen July 2 with tougher rules and more security. They have been closed since two teenage boys drowned in separate incidents May 31 — the day the city’s 13 outdoor pools opened for the summer. Parks director Cindy Buchanan said officials have reviewed pool rules and consulted with other cities about new regulations. She said the pools are as safe as they can be. ——— Information from: WREG-TV, http://www.wreg.com/ Published in The Messenger 6.18.08
