Completed funeral arrangements for John P. Castellano, 91, of Union City are being announced today. He died June 5, 2008, in Chesterfield, Mo., at the residence of his son, John Castellano. Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Dr. David Russell officiating. Burial is to follow in East View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Denver Whitby, Eric Whitby, Ken Davis, Paul Tinkle, Scott Thorberg and Mike Castellano. He was born Feb. 23, 1917, in Willisville, Ill., son of the late Phillip and Mary (Costa) Castellano. He married Sammie Whitby Castellano on Dec. 20, 1980. She died Oct. 10, 2005. He worked for General Motors for 33 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Union City and the Character Builders Sunday School Class. He was a Union City Kiwanis Club member and had been a member of Union City Civitan Club. He is also survived by his daughter, Annette Castellano of Baldwin, Mo.; two stepsons, Bobby Whitby of Union City and Jimmy Whitby of Tiptonville; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nene Wilson; and four brothers, Joe Castellano, Sam Castellano, Ignatius Castellano and Tony Castellano.
