Old Timey Live Music will begin at 6:30 tonight at Union City First United Methodist Church’s fellowship hall. The entertainment is free, with all “pickers, grinners and singers of old-timey music — gospel, bluegrass, old-timey country, etc.” — invited to participate, a spokesman said. Some microphones will be set up for voice amplification. “This is a great preservation effort for old-timey string and harmonica music in this county. It’s also a great place to make new friends and a great place for all new players and for those who are trying to learn to play,” the spokesman said. “It’s a great place for listeners who like the old-timey music. You can sing along, dance, clap your hands, slap your knee, tap your toe …” Those attending may bring refreshments if they wish.
