Interwoven Perspectives: Contemporary Art Quilts by Off Our Blocks

DUBLIN, Ohio — (June 11, 2008) Interwoven Perspectives: Contemporary Art Quilts by Off Our Blocks opens June 24 at Dublin Arts Council (DAC), 7125 Riverside Dr., in Dublin, Ohio. The group exhibition from Off Our Blocks, an informal group of 22 members drawn together by a shared interest in the creation of art quilts, remains on view through Aug. 1. An opening reception for the artists will be held on Wed., June 25 from 6 to 8 pm at Dublin Arts Council. The exhibition and the reception are free of charge and the public is invited to attend. Off Our Blocks began in the fall of 2003 and today hosts 22 active members who meet monthly in a spirit of mutual support and to facilitate individual self-expression and growth. The artists’ work ranges in style from representational to contemporary abstracts and are original designs. The exhibition contains 14 art quilts by 11 Ohio artists and range in size from 13 x 13” to 50 x 50”. Techniques include hand and machine stitching, appliqué, embroidery, embellishments, beading, painting, fusing and a variety of quilting styles. Some of the group’s members have exhibited individually in national and international competitions and exhibitions. Interwoven Perspectives is on view Tues. 10am–7pm; Wed./Thurs./Fri. 10am–5pm; and Sat. 11am-2pm.
