Storms cause outages

Storms caused outages for about 1,500 Gibson Electric Membership Corp. customers Friday night. Most of the outages, around 750, were located around the Trimble and Newbern areas. The outages began at 8:08 p.m. and power was restored to these customers within 70 minutes. Another 264 customers in the Woodland Mills area lost power at 8:11 p.m. At 9:25 p.m., about 400 customers in the Alamo area also lost service. About 100 more outages are scattered throughout Lake, Obion and Dyer counties. Crews worked to restore power to everyone as quickly as possible, a Gibson EMC spokesman said. Gibson EMC encourages its customers to call their local customer service centers or call the toll-free outage line at 1-800-977-4076 if they are without power. Most importantly, though, customers are encouraged to keep themselves and their family safe. They should stay clear of downed electric lines or tree limbs that have fallen onto power lines and immediately report dangerous situations like those to Gibson EMC.
