Ms. Callens, Deem to wed

The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Jana (Seals) Callens and Jason Lee Deem, both of Union City, are being announced today. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lavender of Tiptonville and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Seals of Troy. She is the granddaughter of Betty Downing and the late Russell Downing of Tiptonville and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Seals of Hornbeak. She is a 1992 graduate of Obion County Central High School in Troy and attended Dyersburg State Community College before graduating from Volunteer Beauty Academy in Dyersburg with a degree in cosmetology arts and sciences. She is the owner and operator of Hairline Salon in Union City. The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Dunn of Rutherford. He is the grandson of Thedis Abernathy and the late Brandon Abernathy of Clarksville, Shirley Dunn and the late Wallace Dunn of Rutherford and the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Deem of Clarksville. He is a 1995 graduate of Gibson County High School in Dyer and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2000 with a bachelor of music degree in music education. He received his master’s degree in 2005 in educational administration and supervision. He is employed as a band director with the Union City School System and is the Union City High School tennis coach. The couple will wed and honeymoon at the Sandals Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Friday. Published in The Messenger 6.16.08
