James Monroe Glasgow
James Monroe Glasgow, 88, of Union City, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Pearcey officiating. Burial was at East View Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Crawford, Dr. Grover Jewell, George Thomas, Dr. Tom Mayo, Wallace Crider, Randy Chism, Kirk Moore, Lori Damons, Amy Petty, Shanna Cook, Linda Rice, Judge Bill Acree, John Tanner, Shine Jessup, Judge Phil Harris, Mike Mallone, Ned Ray McWherter and Johnny Tate. Glasgow was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Weakley County, son of the late William Ayers and Mary Dismuke Glasgow. Survivors include his wife, Jo Evelyn Glasgow of Union City; two daughters, Carol (Ron) Kirkland of Jackson and Linda (Allen) Graham of Union City; a son, Jim (Jenna) Glasgow; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elyse Story.
