Fire damages home

A home on North Second Street in Union City was heavily damaged by fire early this morning. The Union City Fire Department was dispatched at 4:43 a.m. today to a house owned by Paul L. Robinson at 809 North Second St., according to a Union City Fire Department report. Fire officials reported 911 had received multiple calls indicating flames were coming through the roof of the house. The first firefighting unit to check into service immediately instructed 911 to tone a second fire alarm. The first firefighters arrived on the scene at 4:45 a.m. and found flames coming from the roof. At that time, the Rives Volunteer Fire Department was requested to respond mutual aid to provide additional personnel. Firefighters searched the home twice and did not find anyone inside. The fire was reported to be under control at 5:30 a.m., with firefighters remaining on the scene until shortly after 7 this morning to fully extinguish the fire and do overhaul operations.
