The Messenger. 06.09.08 Daniel Gunaka, 68, of Tiptonville died June 6, 2008, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tiptonville chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home, with cremation to follow. Friends may call at the chapel 5:30-8 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Michael Whitehead, Roger Cook, Andy Nelson, Paul Crowell Jr., Robin Ray and Anthony Whitson. The family requests that memorials be made to Shriners Temple, Transportation Division, in Memphis. He was a retired farmer and a U.S. Navy veteran. A Catholic, he was the widower of Myrtle Thompson Gunaka and was also preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Anna Gunaka, and his sister, Carol Locascio. Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Dorton of Samburg and Lee Ann Thompson of Hornbeak; two sons, Phillip Thompson Sr. and Leon Thompson, both of Samburg; four sisters, Mary Anne Gunaka of Reno, Nev., Patricia Graham and Diane Gunaka, both of Chicago, and Sandy Wedgeworth of Sauk Village, Ill.; two brothers, Theodore Gunaka Jr. of Tinley Park, Ill., and Ronald Gunaka of Midlothian, Ill.; and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
