The Messenger. 06.05.08 William Earl Powers Sr., 53, of the Shawtown community died at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky., June 4, 2008. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with Stanley Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 this evening. Pallbearers will be Ricky Bennett, John Blakely, John Sawyer Jr., Larry Bennett, Larry Mitchell and Billy Craddock. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Wilson, Dennis Mitchell, Gerald Craddock, Charles Harris and Dan “Wart” Montgomery. He was born March 9, 1955, in Humphreys County, son of the late Herschel and Lester (Daniel) Powers. He married the former Martha Bennett March 16, 1973. She survives. He was a retired employee of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he had worked for 24 years. Survivors also include his daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Matt McGrath of Union City; his son, William Earl Powers II of Hornbeak; his grandson, Luke McGrath of Union City; his sister, Lois Burpo of Hornbeak; three brothers, Douglas Powers of Hornbeak, Bobby Powers of Glass community and David Powers of Obion; and several nieces and nephews.
