The Messenger. 06.06.08 Zula Henrietta (Smith) Fergerson, 89, of Union City died June 6, 2008, at Union City Manor Nursing Home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olive Cemetery, with the Rev. Chip Davis officiating. Friends may call at White-Ranson Funeral Home Sunday from noon until time to go to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Cheatham, Andy Moore, Brian Hale, David Hauhe, Ronald Muse and Dale Collins. She was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Obion County, daughter of the late Walter Lee and Mai (Armstrong) Smith. She married George W. Fergerson Oct. 18, 1941. He died Aug. 1, 1979. She was a member of Lake Road Baptist Church and had been employed at the former Brown Shoe Co. in Union City. Survivors include her daughter, Patsy Caldwell of Rives; her son, George Lee Fergerson of Union City; five grandchildren, Cindy (Caldwell) Moore and Gayla (Caldwell) Cheatham, both of Troy, Brad Caldwell of Madison, Miss., Darla (Fergerson) Hale of Obion and Amy (Fergerson) Hauhe of Union City; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Estelle Culp and Doris Wells, both of Union City. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lexie Newton Smith and Elmer Arvelle Smith; and three sisters, Lottie Smith, Lurline Smith and Ora Bell Priest.
