The Messenger. 06.04.08 Martha Ann (French) Smith, 73, of Union City died June 3, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God in Union City, with the Rev. Tommy Hall officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery. Friends may call at White-Ranson Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. Friday and at the church from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday. Pallbearers will be Trey Smith, Cory Smith, Nathan Pruitt, Ricky Smith, Paul French and J.C. Pruitt. The family requests that memorials be made to the benevolence fund at First Assembly of God, 1810 Pleasant Valley Road, Union City, TN 38261. She was born Oct. 21, 1934, in Union City, daughter of the late Riley V. and Ira (Pace) French. She married Linden Arliss Smith Oct. 24, 1952. He survives. She was a homemaker and attended First Assembly of God in Union City. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Glen Dowden of Union City; her son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Marie Smith of Union City; five grandchildren and the spouse of one, Trey Smith, Cory Smith, Kristy Dowden and Kayla Dowden, all of Union City, and Julie and Nathan Pruitt of Fayetteville, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Coan Smith of Union City and Eva-Marie Pruitt and Carter Pruitt, both of Fayetteville; two sisters, Mary Jane White of Gray and Sarah Bullington of Dyersburg; and two brothers, James French of Memphis and Bobby French of Texas.
