The Messenger. 06.03.08 Completed arrangements are being announced for Zelma (Pardue) Johnson, 93, of Troy, who died June 2, 2008, at Union City Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with the Rev. Judd Mowery officiating. Burial will follow in Troy’s Terrace Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Karl Johnson, John Snead, Jim Church, Charles Morris, Ronnie Johnson, Clay Church, Russell Regeon and Matt Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and their spouses. She was born Nov. 21, 1914, in the Mount Moriah community, daughter of the late Jim and Elsie (Jones) Pardue. She married James Paul Johnson June 26, 1942. He died April 21, 2003. She was a homemaker and had been employed at the former Salant & Salant in both Troy and Obion. She later kept several children in her home for working mothers. She had joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church as a young girl and later moved her membership to Troy First Baptist Church. She attended Troy United Methodist Church with her family. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Beverly Johnson of Troy; four grandsons and the wives of two, Jason Johnson of Atlanta, Brent and Macey Johnson and Travis Johnson, all of Troy, and Michael and Tara Johnson of Crockett Mills; her sister, Marjorie “Tootsie” Roach of Ashland, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Church, Ethel Word and Beatrice Regeon; and her brother, Charles Pardue.
