The Messenger. 06.02.08 Viola Mai (Moore) May, 89, of Dickson, sister of Dora Stone of Union City, died 1:05 a.m. May 30, 2008, at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, with burial following in J. Warren Cemetery in New Johnsonville. An Order of Eastern Star service was held at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Allen Weller officiated. She was born Jan. 20, 1919, in New Johnsonville, daughter of the late George F. and Bertha Aslee (Fortner) Moore. She was the widow of Mason Robert “M.R.” May, who died Dec. 27, 1995, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Dickson First United Methodist Church and the Hustburg Chapter 153 Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of Dickson Senior Citizens. Survivors also include two daughters and her son-in-law, Bobbie Ann Pruett of Waverly and Linda and Carl Little of Dickson; two sons and her daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Susan May of Medina and Billy May of Cookeville; another sister, Sue Curt of Waverly; her brother-in-law, Jim Stone of Union City; six grandchildren, and their spouses, Robert and Lisa Pruett, Delbra and Alex Crowell, Susan and Danny Kohler, David and Patty May, Kelly and Matt King and Kim May; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Wesley Moore Sr. and James E. Moore; and two grandchildren, Howard Pruett and Dawn Lynn May.
