Cumberland County Playhouse will hold auditions for Adult Volunteers for its summer production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance on Saturday June 7th. Roles are available for both men and women who sing well and read music. The production is sponsored by Mariner’s Pointe Resort and Tennessee Heart, and Pirates auditions will be held from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM CST. Please bring 16 bars of prepared vocal selection and sheet music in the proper key. To schedule an appointment please call Meka Doxtator at (931) 484-4324 ext 243. Rehearsals will start Tuesday June 24th. The Pirates of Penzance opens July 24th, plays several performances per week, and closes August 31st. Nashville conductor/composer Mark Beal, who led the 2007 production of The Mikado, also Music directs this year’s Gilbert and Sullivan work, Pirates. The production is staged by Nicole Begue, who has performed G&S nationally with Opera a la Carte, and appeared in leading roles with Knoxville Opera and Cleveland lyric, plus many Playhouse productions.
