Shanks returning to UC with bank
The Messenger 06.02.08 Tim Shanks, a vice president in the Memphis office of Commercial Bank & Trust Co., will return to his hometown of Union City in June to serve as a lender in the bank’s Union City office. The announcement was recently made by Jack Parker, community president of Commercial Bank & Trust Co. Shanks is a 1985 graduate of Union City High School and a 1989 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. He joined Commercial Bank & Trust Co. in the Memphis office in July 2007. The homecoming will be special for Shanks and his family as he returns to join many friends and family who live in the area. Shanks’ father, Larry Shanks, has been a football coach in the West Tennessee area for over 30 years, during which time he coached at Union City and Obion County Central high schools and UT Martin. Shanks’ mother, Lois Shanks, has been a registered nurse in the area for over 20 years. Shanks and his wife, Selle, are the parents of two children, Joseph, 13, and Elizabeth, 10. “I am very excited to be moving back to a place that I have always considered home and look forward to serving the banking needs of the community,” Shanks said. Commercial Bank & Trust Co. is a full-service bank with 11 Tennessee banking locations — including Paris, Jackson, Memphis, Union City and Henry — plus a loan production office in Southaven, Miss. The bank was founded in 1877 and will mark 131 years of continued banking service this year.
