Flippen’s opens Union City location
The Messenger 06.02.08 Flippen’s is offering something fresh off the farm — as well as from the bakery — in a new convenient location. The Flippen family and Flippen Fruit Farm recently opened Flippen’s Farm Market & Bakery Outlet at 101 North First St., at the corner of First and Main streets, in Union City. The farm market sells a wide variety of fresh produce, homemade breads, fried pies and much more under the supervision of store manager Jeanne Chambers and produce manager Amy Flippen. In addition to local fresh produce such as tomatoes, melons and corn, the market will carry Flippen’s own tree-ripe peaches and apples in season, as well as several flavors of Flippen’s famous fried pies and now their own homemade biscuits and yeast rolls, jams, jellies and syrups. The Flippen family said their pie and bakery business needed to expand in their original Shawtown location, resulting in moving the farm market portion of the business to Union City. They will still carry the same products that were offered in the Shawtown store with the addition of plenty of fresh and frozen biscuits, rolls and fried pies. Flippen’s Farm Market & Bakery Outlet is open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information, call Flippen’s Farm Market & Bakery Outlet at 885-0077.
