ATV accident claims Obion County man

A Troy senior citizen died Saturday in a four-wheeler accident near his home. Glenn Jaggers, 71, was pronounced dead at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City following an accident that was discovered about 2:30 p.m. on Jack Long Road in the Troy area, authorities said. (See related obituary, Page 2.) The Obion County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the area shortly after 2 p.m. to investigate a possible crash involving a four-wheeler. The person who contacted authorities had indicated that Jaggers was out in a horse pasture on his four-wheeler and had not been seen or heard from in a good while, causing them to become concerned, according to sheriff’s department Chief Deputy Kent Treece. The reporting officer, sheriff’s department Cpl. Shane Hutchens, walked down a field road on the property and within just a short distance discovered the four-wheeler turned on its side with Jaggers trapped beneath it, Treece said. He called for medical assistance, with both Regional Emergency Medical Services ambulance and the Obion County Rescue Squad responding. Jaggers was removed from under the four-wheeler and transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City shortly after 3 p.m., the sheriff’s department reported. Treece said it appeared that Jaggers had been doing some fence work when the four-wheeler somehow turned over on top of him and he was pinned beneath it. Published in The Messenger 6.208
