The Messenger. 05.28.08 One driver sustained possible injury in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning at South Perkins Street and East Florida Avenue in Union City. The accident occurred about 9:35 a.m. and involved a 2006 Ford TSE driven by Charlie C. Gray, 88, of 1398 South Miles Ave., Union City; a 2004 Buick LCF driven by Ollie Ruth Miller, 70, of 2567 State Line Road, Union City; and a 1996 Ford Windstar driven by David Lee Severns, 42, of 716 North Second St., Union City. According to a Union City Police Department report, Gray told police he was stopped at a stop sign going southbound on Perkins Street at Florida Avenue, while Ms. Miller was eastbound on Florida Avenue and was stopped at a stop sign. He said both vehicles went at the same time and the front of Ms. Miller’s vehicle struck Gray’s vehicle in the right front tire area. Gray said while he was trying to avoid the collision with Ms. Miller’s vehicle, the front of his vehicle struck the front of Severns’ vehicle, which was northbound on Perkins Street waiting at a stop sign. Ms. Miller told police that both her vehicle and Gray’s vehicle were stopped, then went and collided. When asked, both drivers said they did not know who arrived at the intersection first or who had the right of way, while Severns told police that all he saw was the two vehicles coming at him and he did not see who had the right of way, according to the report. Police reported they were unable to find an independent witness and were unable to determine fault, resulting in no charges being filed. Severns reported possible injury and was taken by private vehicle to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment, police reported.
