The Messenger. 05.29.08 Dewayne Baggett, 54, of Union City died 12:33 p.m. May 28, 2008, in the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. Graveside services are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Fremont Cem-etery near Union City, with the Rev. Tyrone Crouch officiating. The family will receive friends at Dilday Funeral Home in Union City from 5-8 p.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be Danny Elks, Chad Elks, Roy Wallace, Brad Nelson, Jason Cochran and Tommy Willingham. He was born Aug. 12, 1953, in Fulton County, Ky., son of the late William Elbert and Minnie Elizabeth (Kent) Baggett. He married the former Iris Melvin June 21, 2001. She survives. He had been employed as a deck hand for WGM Towing Service in Paducah, Ky., and was a member of Sassafras Ridge Baptist Church near Hickman, Ky. He is also survived by his daughter, Sundie Huff of Union City; his son, Michael Baggett of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Pam Cash of Mayfield, Ky., Kaye Poole of Union City and Jennefer Giles of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his stepson, Jeff Poole of Union City; five sisters, Elizabeth Harrell of Fayetteville, N.C., Carol Winston of Martin, Janet Wallace of Paducah, Faye Elks of Woodland Mills and Billie Lewis of Union City; two brothers, James Baggett of Troy and Gene Baggett of Union City; five grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and four step-great-grandchildren.
