AFTERNOON TEA Wendy Haynes recently opened her lovely Reelfoot Lake home for an afternoon tea honoring Miss Shull. Other hostesses were Judy Fraley and Suzanne Keefe, both from Tiptonville; Patricia Parks, Alice Cranford, Melissa Cranford and Sunny Riley, all from Ridgely; and Lynn Patterson of Mandeville, La., cousin of the bride, in absentia. The home was beautifully decorated with magnolia blossoms, gardenias, roses and baby’s breath throughout the home. The dining room table was decorated with crystal candlesticks that held white tapered candles on each side of a large exquisite crystal bowl accented with white tulle. The bowl held a large bouquet of white roses, fern leaf and baby’s breath that served as the centerpiece for the table. White cake squares accented with a yellow rose on each piece, nuts, mints and punch were served. Special guests were childhood friend Mary Elizabeth Hayes of Knoxville; Sarah Hayes of Reelfoot Lake; the groom-elect’s mother; the bride-elect’s grandmothers; and Shelly Arnett of Samburg. Out-of-town guests were Kathy and Katie Sanger of Hickman, Ky.; and the bride-elect’s aunt, Julianne Hickman of Dyersburg. The hostesses gave the honoree two serving pieces from her Casa Fina everyday pattern. Published in The Messenger 5.29.08
