Senior health, fitness expo slated

To celebrate Senior Health and Fitness Month, an expo has been planned for Friday at the Eddie Cox Senior Center. All area seniors and caregivers of senior adults are invited to attend the free event from 8:30 a.m. until noon. More than 30 booths with information and resources geared toward seniors ranging from nutrition and fitness to end-of- life care will be available. Door prizes and refreshments will be provided, as well as entertainment by the Obion County Line Dancers and a demonstration by members of Health Quest’s Fit Forever class. Blood glucose and total cholesterol screenings will be available for $5 and other screenings will be available at no cost. Dr. Steve Beacham of Family Chiropractic Center will speak on chiropractic care for seniors. Among those slated to set up booths are: • Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City with information on services and wellness; • Health Quest with information on its Fit Forever program and instant blood glucose and cholesterol screenings for $5; • Obion County Office on Aging with information on available services; • Amedisys Home Health with information on how to choose an in-home nursing and therapy service and in-home mental health services; • Sterling Health Plans with information on insurance; • Kizer Pharmacy with information on services and products; • Golden Living Center with information on long-term care and in-patient therapy and out-patient therapy • Magnolia Place with information on assisted living; • Etheridge House with information on assisted living; • Social Security Administra-tion with need-to-know information and frequently-asked questions • CareAll Home Health with information on its services; • Volunteer Home Health with information on its services; • Beacham with information on chiropractic care for seniors and free spinal screening scans; • Family Practice of Union City’s Sandra McGrath, APRN, with information on wellness information and free oxygen level screenings; • Park Terrace with information on assisted living; • Lyda Rice of Shaklee Nutrition with information on wellness supplements and nutri tion; • Phyllis Jones of Sitter Service with information on in-home private sitter services; • Union City Insurance with information on long term care and insurance planning and costs; • Caris Healthcare with information on hospice care; • Aculaser Solutions with information on solutions for weight loss and smoking cessation; • American Home Patient with information on medical equipment and oxygen services; • Jackson Oaks with information on assisted living; • Pathways with information on counseling services; • Miracle Ear with hearing testing; • Denaburg and Jordan Optometrists with eye care information; • Northwest Tennessee Agency on Aging with information and frequently asked questions; • Reelfoot Manor with information on nursing and rehabilitation services; • Angel House with information on assisted living; • Obion County Nursing Home with information on long term care; • Regional Hospital Sleep Apnea Services with information on what you need to know about sleep disorders; • Baptist Rehabilitation with information on outpatient rehabilitation services; • Star Physical Therapy with information on outpatient rehabilitation services.
