By: AP

HICKMAN, Ky. (AP) — The city of Hickman has ended its agreement with an independent volunteer rescue squad after squad members quit answering calls. Hickman City Manager Larry Myatt said he mailed a letter Tuesday, ending the city’s affiliation with the Fulton County Rescue Squad. Members of the group in western Kentucky had quit responding to calls May 21 in a dispute over funding for a new truck. Myatt said Hickman also wants to recover all equipment the city purchased for the squad. The city has signed an interim agreement for services with the Fulton City Fire and Rescue Squad. County Judge-Executive David Gallagher said it isn’t clear who is in charge of the Fulton County Rescue Squad after former leaders resigned.
