At the college level
The Messenger 05.28.08 Two local students have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The honorees include Isaac H. Poore of Kenton and Janay Lavon Roberson of Union City. Students who make a 3.2 or higher semester grade point average are awarded the honor. — — — Several students from Obion County have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville as a result of their academic achievements. Among the honorees are Betsy Appleton of Union City, cum laude in the College of Arts and Sciences; James Hicks of South Fulton, summa cum laude in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences; Samantha Hicks of South Fulton, cum laude in the College of Social Work; and Lindsay Smith of Union City, cum laude in the College of Communication and Information. Students whose term average is 3.8 through 4.0 earn summa cum laude. Those who make 3.65 through 3.79 earn magna cum laude and those with a grade average of 3.5 through 3.64 earn cum laude.
