Budget meeting set
The Messenger. 05.26.08 The Obion County Budget Committee will meet 9 a.m. Friday in the basement conference room at the Obion County Courthouse. Items on the agenda include a proposal for the construction and funding of the Career Technical Facilities at Obion County Central and South Fulton high schools (including the Ag department at OCCHS); an appointment to fill a vacancy, created by Bobby Wyatt, on the Obion County Nursing Home board; a presentation concerning county-wide fire protection service; a resolution to amend the General Fund in the amount of $6,300; a request from Carey Counseling Center to apply for a grant through Obion County; notary public applications; and new requests for fiscal year 2008-09 from Union City Sunrise Outreach Center ($,1000 in a new request), Child Welfare for foster children ($2,500) and TCCA dues ($1,700, representing a correction to the original figure). Boards and committees to be considered for the July term include the Beer Committee (now serving are Jimmy Seals, Perry Barfield and Kenneth Cheatham), the Board of Hospital Governors (now serving, Tom Wade); and the Reelfoot Lake Tourist Council (now serving, Tim Bunch). All members are urged to attend, a spokesman said. The session is open to the public.
