Weekly Troy scramble
produces low scores

Bryan Barker, Damon Campbell, Wayne Storey and Randy Kincade combined to shoot 9-under-par and take first place in the weekly men’s scramble at Wynridge Greens in Troy Thursday evening.
The team of Hollis Woody, Gary Mayfield, Vinson Thompson, Keith Gilliam and Ray Swift also came in at 9-under, but finished in second.
Wynridge Greens holds its weekly men’s scramble every Thursday.

West Tennessee final
highlights 1A baseball

Huntingdon and Jackson Christian School will meet in an all-West Tennessee Class A state baseball final today at Murfreesboro.
The Mustangs edged Richland 1-0 on Thursday, and JCS ousted defending 2007 champion Friendship Christian 6-3.
The two played earlier in the season with Jackson Christian winning an 11-7 decision.
Trinity Christian Academy kept its hopes alive for a third straight Class A softball championship and will play in the title round today.
Westview was eliminated from the Class 2A softball field with a loss to Covington, while Bolivar bowed out of the 2A baseball tourney

Greenfield has two
to sign scholarships

A pair of Greenfield High School seniors have signed letters of intent to continue their respective spring sports careers.
Two-sport standout Brett Perkins recently signed papers to prolong his baseball career, while receiving an education at Union University in Jackson.
Meanwhile, G’field softball standout Brantley Wiley inked papers to play at Jackson State Community College under Michael Winders.
Perkins — who was a football standout also — played baseball at GHS under head coach Mike Riggs, while Wiley’s softball coach was Hal Blackman.

Kitty League Oilers
announce new GM

Troy Hardison has been named as the general manager for the Kitty League’s Owensboro Oilers.
Hardison’s responsibilities will include marketing, public relations and managment of off field day to day operations.
He grew up and played high school baseball in Central City, and at Oakland City College. From 1993-1998, Hardison taught and was baseball coach at Whitesville Trinity High School.
The Kitty League will begin its 2008 season next Friday with the Union City Greyhounds hosting Tradewater.
