Floyd E. Edwards of Sharon has announced that he will be running for mayor in the November election. Floyd grew up in Sharon and left here after high school. He has returned to this community for his retirement. There will be a “get to know” your candidate scheduled prior to the election so each person can hear what he would like to do and his values on things. If you don’t know Floyd, you can find him in town most days. He is an interesting man with a lot of good ideas. Be sure to say hello and let him know who you are!

I would like to apologize to Mrs. Faye Peal for my birthday boo-boo last week! She did not celebrate her birthday yet; I put it on the wrong month, so sorry Mrs. Faye! My aunt, Elaine Cook has a birthday on May 22. Kayla Lassiter and Mike Thompson both celebrate a birthday on May 25. On May 27, Rachel Tackett and Jimmy Washburn both celebrate a birthday. My sister-in-law and her husband, Janice and Gary Page, celebrate their anniversary on May 27! I want to wish a very happy birthday and happy anniversary from the Sharon community!
Remember to go to Sidonia on May 24 for their Memorial Day celebration! This is another fundraiser for the Fire Department and we all need to support them! There are a lot of things going on that day, from a parade to items for sale. You can register for the prizes this year at Sharon Furniture and Appliance! The fire department is selling tickets for a country ham at $1 per ticket or for a weed eater at $1 per ticket or five tickets for $3! Usually there is homemade ice cream, burgers and great entertainment. If you haven’t been there before, this is the best time to go and enjoy being with your friends at the Sidonia Memorial Day Celebration! Hope to see you there!
Well, for today, that is “all the news that is news” from the Sharon community. Remember to continue to pray for the military, your neighbors, and that God will have mercy on our land!
