Hunter Hynds Unit meets at Stanley’s Chapel
The Messenger. 05.22.08
The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women held its May meeting at Stanley’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with 13 members present.
President Chris Cheatham called the meeting to order and led in the reading of the purpose. Requests and concerns were followed by prayer by Rosemary Coleman.
The minutes were read by Emily Haynes and Leanne Parnell gave the treasurer’s report.
The prayer calendar and prayer were read by Sandra McTurner.
Announcements were made about the birth of Sarah Elisabeth Cheatham, granddaughter of Chris Cheatham; about donations made to the Africa University Dream Farm in memory of Dr. Mickey Carpenter; about the participation of Serena Blanton and Emma Blanton in “Seussical” at the Capitol Theatre; and about the performance of the David Johnson Chorus, of which Linda Winstead is a member, at Dresden Elementary School.
Ms. Cheatham presented the program, “The Icing on the Cake,” written by Gail Losch. The table of interest had an un-iced cake and cans of strawberry frosting.
The program explained mission giving by showing the project must have organization and a foundation, just as the cake is the foundation for the icing.
Participants included Roberta Peacock, Ms. Winstead, Serena Blanton and Ms. McTurner.
Ms. Cheatham read John 13:3-5; 12-16 and closed with prayer.
Refreshments of cake and lemonade were served.
The next meeting will be Family Night June 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Coleman.
