The Lively Ones from Dresden First Baptist Church attended the Sandi Patty/Larnelle Harris Christian concert Friday night at First Baptist Church in Humboldt as part of the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival. Those attending were Kenneth and Janice Gatewood, Gary and Barbara Dunlap, Danny and Shirley Jones, Bill and Shirley Halliburton, Madge Winstead, Marie Mangum, Betty Gatewood, Gertie Sheffield, Jean Higgs, Martha Hopper, Dian Sellers, Betty Smith, Ronald and Betty Winstead, Ron and Pat Phillips, Kelley and Sheila Swearingen. Everyone reported a wonderful time.
Dot and T. J. Ferrell have visited his sister, Odella Dunn, who resides at Woodlawn Living Center in Dyersburg.
Judge Tommy Moore and daughter, Miss Kate Moore, attended the graduation of their nephew and cousin, Rafe Preston, at Drury University in Springfield, Mo.
Ruby Phillips Harpst and husband, John, of Coldwater, Mich. have been visiting her brother, Tom Phillips, and other relatives. While here she attended to business of the Martin family cemetery.
A reception honoring Mike Mansfield, who is retiring as coach and teacher at Huntingdon High School, was held May 10. Those attending from Dresden were his parents, Doyle and Billie Mansfield, cousins Karen and Kenneth Radford and friend Sandra Klutts. Relatives also attending were Mrs. Quinton Olds, Mrs. Thelma Morgan, Jerry and Marsha Olds, Jessie and Kitty James, all of Memphis, and Jennifer Stephenson of Nashville.
Congratulations to Lee Catherine (Lovell) Morefield, who graduated on May 3 from Jackson State Community College with an associate arts in nursing. After graduation, she celebrated the occasion with friends and former high school classmates at the home of her parents, Beth and Randy Adams.
Monica Parham of Nashville and Michelle Brumley of Knoxville were visitors of their parents, Beverly and Mitchell Parham on Mother’s Day.
Emily (Lovell) and Jon Giese were honored this weekend with a luncheon reception in Peoria, Ill. following their recent marriage on April 19 at Creekwood United Methodist Church in Brentwood. The Nashville wedding was attended by friends and family from Dresden including Cathy Glasgow, the Rusty Morefield family, Melissa Oliver Overton, Lori Forrester, April Bennett, Wanda and Billy Powell, Barbara and Dick Hutcherson, and the Paul Hutcherson family.wcp 5-22-08
