Weakley County Rehab & Nursing
The residents experienced a very special Mother’s Day at our facility. The annual Mother’s Day Tea was a huge success. Many family members showed up to help celebrate our cherished mothers. It was a wonderful occasion and everyone had a great time. The facility was well decorated with fresh flowers and colorful balloons only to compliment the delicious food served. We appreciate all those in attendance and everyone’s hard work in putting on the tea.
The cover card winners this week were Charcie Stewart, Maudie Maxey, Dorothy Farrar, Mignon Mayo, Mary Tuck, Dorothy Rea, Mavis Insco and Lillian Melton. The extra winners were provided by Donna and Alice. On Thursday, everyone left a winner at one-line bingo. Each participant received 50 cents just for playing. We have been having extra large crowds at bingo and greatly appreciate everyone pitching in to help provide the assistance needed.
Many of our ladies got ready for Mother’s Day with a bit of pampering through the week. The beauty shop was hopping as everyone piled in to get their hair ready for the big day. CC had everyone looking great. On Monday afternoon, we polished fingernails for a large number. The residents picked from a large basket of colors to get the perfect shade. Everyone was a solid 10 by the time Mother’s Day arrived.
Sports competitions this week were fantastic. Frankie Galfano and Roy Hazelip took the lead in Bucket Toss. They made the most buckets and had a great time doing it. Dorothy Farrar was our stand out winner at Javelin Toss. Our residents are true competitors and have great skill, but we don’t always have a single winner. At doughnut toss we had a three-way tie. Bill McClain, Lillian Melton and Opal Burt all proved their strengths. Afterwards, everyone was treated to a fresh glazed doughnut.
Residents were very excited for this month’s Country Store. They formed a line well before opening time all the way back to the dining room. Once inside they picked from seven tables filled with tons of goodies. Everyone left with their arms full and smiles on their faces. It would be hard to find a better way to spend play money! Residents also gathered for show and tell on Thursday morning. A few trinkets were brought in to share with the crowd and afterwards we reminisced and colored. It was a lot of fun.
On Friday afternoon, we had a ladies only party. The ladies joined to for a special tea party in honor of not only our mothers but all women. The room was completely girly with bright decorations and flowers hanging from the ceiling and balloons to match. We dined on fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, iced cookies and peach tea. We had a great time!
Francis Whiteman provided Bible study for the residents on Wednesday morning. He is with us each week and does a wonderful job. Macedonia Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church conducted our Sunday morning services. They are so dedicated and bring such blessings to our residents.
Second Wind Dreams has been very active in our facility. Elsie Bradberry was thrilled to receive a beautiful housedress from the Weakley County cafeteria employees. The dress was beautiful and she loves it. EW James of Dresden also presented a wish this week. Buford Insco was surprised with a red eye gravy breakfast and a cake. The residents are so thankful and we are so pleased to have you take time and think of us. Thank you all. wcp 5-15-08
