A fully-accredited online master of business administration program is now offered by the University of Tennessee at Martin.
The 22-month sequence of courses in the 35-hour program makes it convenient for professionals working full time to complete the degree. The UT Martin online MBA is the first University of Tennessee graduate business program offered completely online.
The program, initially designed with a focus on banking and financial services professionals, also offers the convenience of an online “classroom” for anyone employed full time. Lectures, course materials and help desk assistance are available 24/7.
Complete classroom presentations including lectures and multimedia information are provided through streaming video to home or office computers. Lectures will even be accessible from PDAs and podcasted.
As the only program in West Tennessee outside Memphis accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the UT Martin MBA is a comprehensive business de-gree. The program is designed to develop a range of relevant skills and knowledge including: teamwork, problem solving, business ethics, communication, leadership, financial analysis, sales and marketing, technology, human resources, strategic planning, regulation and economic trends.
Dr. Tom Payne, UT Martin Horace and Sara Dunagan Chair of Excellence in Banking, said the new online MBA serves the needs of bank employees with different professional backgrounds, undergraduate degrees, job responsibilities and work schedules. It will also serve the needs of banks with branches across West Tennessee and the surrounding region as they develop the next generation of leaders. The program provides a way for bankers to develop their finance, accounting, marketing, management and technical skills as they work in teams to solve problems and learn from highly-qualified faculty.
Anyone enrolling in the program should hold a four-year bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of two years professional work experience. The program is delivered with personalized instruction by UT Martin graduate faculty and can accommodate 22 students in each annual cohort. The following courses in the 22-month program are delivered sequentially: introductory tools and methods, accounting for managerial decisions, organizational theory and design, corporate financial management, banking and financial services, legal and ethical environment of business, managerial economics, marketing strategy, sales and marketing research for banks, operations management, strategic management and business policy.
