Retha Petty Wallace, 78, of Hornbeak died May 19, 2008, as the result of an automobile accident on Highway 51 South near Union City.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Terrace Hill Cemetery in Troy, with the Rev. Aubrey Turner officiating.
Friends may call at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion from 12-1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Petty, Chaney Petty, Don Petty, Johnny Petty, James H. Petty and Shane Upchurch.
She was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Hornbeak, daughter of the late E.C. “Doc” and Faira (Sanders) Gwaltney. She had been an employee of the former Salant and Salant in Obion for 34 years and was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James A. Wallace; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Dale and Sherry Petty and Teddy and Karen Petty, all of Hornbeak; four brothers, Lynn Gwaltney of Obion, Don Gwaltney of Hornbeak and Paul Gwaltney and Billy Gwaltney, both of Union City; five grandchildren, William Chaney Petty, Donald Gene Petty, Kelly Hurst and T.J. Petty, all of Hornbeak, and Keri Dunn of Nashville; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William Carl Petty; and two brothers, Tom Gwaltney and Bernie Gwaltney.
