The Big Randy Recovery Run and Campout is set for Memorial Day weekend.
Events will kick off Friday at 7 p.m., with an NA meeting in Union City, followed at 9 by an AA campfire meeting.
On Saturday, the Big Randy Memorial Run will roll at noon as a memorial celebration of Anchor House founder Randy Eakin’s life.
This sober 80-mile recovery run will include the “missing man” formation.
At 3 p.m., there will be a barbecue picnic, followed at 5 by a memorial service for Eakin. A speaker’s meeting with “Ray J” from Huntingdon is set for 8 and a campfire meeting at 10.
In the event of rain, the ride will be moved to Sunday at the same time.
On Sunday, there will be an AL-ANON speaker meeting at 3 p.m., with a hamburger/hotdog get-together at 5, an AA speaker meeting with “Larry D.” from Jackson at 8 and a campfire gratitude meeting at 10.
Monday’s calendar includes a 10 a.m. AA speaker, “Fish” from Blytheville, Ark., and a noon spiritual meeting, with cleanup to follow.
Participants are reminded to bring extra food and lawn chairs, non-alcoholic drinks and tents and camping gear for the primitive camping experience.
