Obion County Farm Bureau Women representative Brenda Baker (not pictured) recently congratulated the winners of the poster and essay contests in the county. The essay winners were all seventh-grade students of George Leake (left) at Black Oak. They’re essays were titled “What is a Farmer?” They included second place, Kelsey Dial, daughter of James and Kim Dial; third place, Jordan Upson, son of Lori Vaughn; and first place, Taylor Hopper, son of Herbie and Christy Hopper. Winners for both competition were awarded cash prizes from the Obion County Farm Bureau, Obion County Farm Bureau Women and Obion County Farm Bureau Insurance. Prizes for both competitions included $50 for first place, $30 for second place and $20 for third place. The first-place winners will have their entries entered in competition at Farm Bureau’s Summer Leadership Conference in Columbia June 21-22.
