Nellie (Williams) Thompson, 89, of Union City died May 17, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Revs. Henry Callison and Melvin Poe officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 5-8.
Pallbearers will be Terry Bass, Jerry Reagan, Jimmy Smith, Jeff Tarver, Joe Sandford and Gerald Cox.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Curlin, Jimmy Baggett, Silas Stephens Jr., Glenn Goff, Marty Tipps, Tony Tipps, Gary Lewis, Ronald Bowers, Russ Thompson, Gary Thompson, Wesley Thompson, Bobby James, Dale Pate, Eddie Cassetty, Danny Crawford, Danny Thompson, James May and James Caldwell.
The family requests that memorials be made to Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 2206, Brentwood, TN 37024; or Calvary Baptist Church, 2250 East Reelfoot Ave., Union City, TN 38261.
She was born May 18, 1918, in Hickman, Ky., daughter of the late Cam and Jessie (Kirk) Williams. She married Nolen Thompson April 21, 1934. He died Feb. 10, 2008. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Liz Thompson of Union City; two grandchildren and their spouses, Shanna and Keith Via of Hornbeak and Nikki and Steven Lee of Union City; two great-grandchildren, Bradley Via and Jamie Via, both of Hornbeak; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Williams and Gaylon Williams; and four sisters, Margie Crawford, Thelma Stephens, Elizabeth Caldwell and Irene Smith.
