Theoda Gill, 89, of Martin, died Sunday, April 13, 2008.
Services were held April 21 in Milwaukee, Wis. Visitation was held April 17 at Heavenly Gates Funeral Home in Martin.
Gill was born July 8, 1918, in Walnut Grove, Miss., son of the late Granton and Lorena Holton Gill. He attended school in Walnut Grove, joined the U.S. Marines in March 1945 and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 455. He lived and worked in Milwaukee, Wis., until his retirement. In 1989, he married Effie Dean Edwards and moved to Martin in 1990. In 1991, he moved his church membership to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Gill of Martin; a son, Jimmie E. (Dyan) Gill of Temecula, Calif.; three daughters, Girlee (Ronald) Beekman of Milwaukee, Wis., Milinda (Phillip) Ellis of Chicago, Ill., and Linda (Robert) Hogard of Martin; a daughter-in-law, Judy Gill; four sons-in-law, Dennis Mellor, Odie B. (Mary) Edwards, Ken (Doris) Edwards and Tyrone Edwards, all of Martin; five sisters-in-law, Grace Gill of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Florence (Odis) Barnett, Paticia Edwards, Ethel Mae Edwards and Carolyn Thomas, all of Martin; devoted friend, John Ivory of St. Louis, Mo.; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
