The Rev. Don Malone, 79, of Martin died May 14, 2008, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Shepherd’s Field Church in Martin, with the Revs. Wayne Perkins and Charles Brian and Dr. Matthew Wohlfarth officiating. Burial will follow in Martin’s East Side Cemetery.
Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin this evening from 5-8. The body will be moved to the church Saturday at 10 a.m. and will lie in state until the hour of services.
He was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Denver, son of the late Burton Floyd and Wilma Okla (Durham) Malone. He was married to Maria Izabel Malone, who survives, and was the retired pastor of Thompson Creek Baptist Church, where he preached for 35 years. He was a member of Union City First Baptist Church. He had been a member of the Weakley County Commission.
Survivors also include his son, Daniel Malone of Nashville; two daughters, Rebecca Melo and Lisa Dunn, both of Nashville; and six grandchildren, Andrew Melon, Zachary Melo, Campbell Dunn, Aaron Malone, Alex Malone and Abi Malone.
