REPRESENTING UCHS — Chelsea Hale (left) and Rebecca Easley, members of the Future Business Leaders of America at Union City High School, recently attended the Tennessee FBLC State Leadership Conference at the Chattanooga Convention Center. They were accompanied by UCHS accounting and business technology teacher Donna Stringfield. During the three-day conference, the UCHS representatives attended the opening general session, where they were entertained by keynote speaker Byron V. Garrett, chief of staff in the Office of Public Affairs in Washington, D.C. They also participated in two workshops, “How to Land Your Dream Job,” presented by Andy Vanosdale of Microsoft Corp., and “Business Etiquette Dinner — More Than a Meal,” presented by Terry D. Roach of Arkansas State University. An important part of the convention involved various competitions among FBLA students from across the state. Miss Hale entered the Accounting I competition and Miss Easley participated in Job Interview. The conference ended with the UCHS representatives attending the 2008 FBLA banquet and awards ceremony. During the evening, Miss Hale was presented a plaque for claiming third place in the Accounting I competition, which entitles her to represent Tennessee in the national FBLA competition to be held in Atlanta in June.
