James Jones, 76, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center in Dyersburg.
Services were held Monday, May 5, at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in Sharon, with the Rev. E.N. Coleman officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. Heavenly Gates Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Brothers of the Masonic Lodge served as pallbearers.
Jones was born Dec. 29, 1931, in Gibson County, son of the late James Sr. and Lou Emma Jones. He grew up in Gibson County and moved to Greenfield as a young man. He later moved to Sharon and then to Tiptonville, where he lived 40-plus years. He had worked for the Seed House and the Potato House in Sharon and for the transportation department of the city of Tiptonville. He married Pauline Jordan and their union produced a son, Jerry Jones. He later married Annie Bell Tipton, with whom he spent the rest of his life. He was a member of the Rock of Ages CME Church in Tiptonville and the Masonic Lodge.wcp 5-13-08
