Appearance is Yoakam’s 24th

NASHVILLE (AP) — Dwight Yoakam will make his 24th appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” this week, breaking the record for most musical performances by any artist.
The singer’s Los Angeles-based spokeswoman says Yoakam will perform on the late night program’s outdoor concert series Thursday.
Yoakam is currently tied with Lyle Lovett for the show’s most musical performances with 23.
Besides his appearances with Leno, Yoakam also was on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” six times, beginning in 1986.
Yoakam’s latest album is “Dwight Sings Buck,” a musical tribute to his late friend and mentor Buck Owens.
This spring, Yoakam performed at both the indie rock festival Coachella and the country music festival “Stagecoach.”
The singer’s many hits include “Streets of Bakersfield,” “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere” and “Fast as You.”
