Lakewood Gymnastics in Martin brought back first-place team trophies in all levels at the recent 2008 AAU State Championship held in Bowling Green, Ky.
Many of the gymnasts on the Lakewood team are from Obion County.
Several girls brought home gold in their individual events.
McKenzee Pane did well as a first-time competitor. At age 12, competing at a Level 5, she came in at seventh place overall, with a score of 29.5. Other event scores were vault 6.8 (seventh), bars 6.5 (seventh), beam 7.9 (seventh) and floor 8.3 (seventh).
Julie Allen won first place overall with a 37.70 in the Level 4 age 8 division. She won first place in the following individual events: vault 9.55, bars 9.4 and balance beam 9.45. She took second on floor with 9.30.
Ivey Westbrooks won first place overall with a score of 33.25 in Level 5, age 9 division. She won second place on vault with an 8.25, first place on the uneven bars with a 7.6, second place on balance beam with an 8.4 and first place on floor with a 9.00.
Peyton Daniel won first place overall with a score of 36.3 in Level 7, age 12. She won first place on vault with a 9.5, first place on uneven bars with an 8.9, second place on balance beam with an 8.9 and second on the floor event with an 8.95.
Lilly Burcham also competed well as a first-time competitor with a score of 33.85, putting her in eighth place overall in the Level 4, age 9 division. Her event scores include vault 8.85 (ninth), bars 8.10 (sixth), beam 8.20 (sixth) and floor 8.70 (ninth).
Taylor Bowling won first place medals in all events, including the overall trophy with a 34.30 for the Level 5, age 8 division. Her individual event scores included vault 8.2, bars 7.7, beam 9.6 and floor 8.8.
Summer Britt won fourth place overall with 36.50 for the Level 4, age 8 division. She won sixth place on vault with a 9.25, sixth place on uneven bars with an 8.80, second place on beam with a 9.30 and third place on floor with a 9.15.
