Union University’s new Master of Social Work program has cleared the first hurdle in the accreditation process and will receive a visit from the Council of Social Work Education in the fall.
The CSWE accrediting body recently approved the MSW program’s “benchmark one document,” which included such items as course syllabi, academic standards, field manual and student handbook.
After the CSWE visit, the group will meet in February to determine whether to grant candidacy to Union’s MSW program.
In March, Union announced the hiring of Janet E. Furness as director for the MSW program.
