Golden Living Center events set
Golden Living Center in Union City has announced the following activities for May 11-17:
Sunday: Baptist Temple Church in Union City will hold Sunday school at 10 a.m. A Mother’s Tea and celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Bishop Street Church of Christ in Union City will have afternoon service at 3:30.
Monday: The beauty shop will be open all day with services provided by Metta Sisk of Union City. A New Beginning with Reelfoot Baptist Church will hold visitation and services from 9:30-11 a.m. A balloon release will be held at 2 p.m. The nursing home week celebration will kick off with the 1920s and special guest Congressman John Tanner.
Tuesday: Coffee and News Club will meet in the main dining room at 9:30 a.m. Residents will be entertained with a USO show and party in the 1940s.
Wednesday: Residents will be treated to a 1960s coffee shop and at 2 p.m. will be entertained at a ’60s Woodstock music festival party. Reelfoot Baptist Church will hold services for residents at 6:30.
Thursday: The beauty shop will be open all day. Coffee will be served to residents at 9. Exchange Street Church of Christ in Union City will provide a devotional time at 10. Residents, families and friends will go back to the ’60s for a backyard barbecue and field day. Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church will be singing at 7.
Friday: Coffee will be served at 9:30 a.m. Residents will be entertained by a visit to a 1950s-style sock hop at 2 p.m. The grand finale of the National Nursing Home Week will be a “tribute to Elvis” with special guest Elvis impersonator Josh Staggs at 6:30.
Saturday: Coffee and News Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Everfaithful Baptist Church in Union City will hold a singing and devotional at 10 a.m. Residents will play kickball at 2.
