Completed arrangements are being announced for Preston Morris, 93, of Obion, who died May 6, 2008, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion, with the Revs. Eddie Powell and Danny Neal officiating. Burial will follow there in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Hood, Gerald Hollis, Sammy Snead, Robbie Forrester, Gary Duren and Eugene Hudgins.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hometown Walk of Hope to benefit the Obion County Cancer Agency.
He was born April 2, 1915, in Jackson, son of the late John Robert and Jessie Elizabeth (Pope) Morris. He was the widower of Mary (McBride) Morris, who died Nov. 25, 2005, and of Ollie Pearl (Coble) Morris, who died Aug. 13, 1973. He was a retired probation and parole officer for the State of Tennessee and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. A farmer, he was also a commercial fisherman and hunting guide.
Survivors include his son, Edward Fay Morris of Woodland Mills; four daughters, Ann Grimes, Peggy Terry and Carolyn Roden, all of Obion, and Pat Payton of Mason Hall; three brothers, Ray Morris of Franklin, Tommy Morris of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Johnny Morris of Nashville; three sisters, Virginia Swindle of Nashville, Sylvia Cox of Obion and Shirley Casey of Kansas City, Mo.; and 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Daymon Morris, Waymon Morris and John L. Morris; and two sisters, Lucille Roberson and Mogia Hayes.
