Completed arrangements are being announced for Walter Wayne Mansfield, 86, of Union City, who died May 5, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. He had made his home at Ethridge House the past three years.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doy Daniels Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-7 this evening.
Pallbearers will be Bill Flood, Dale Vinson, Frank Tucker, Bill Threlkeld, Ed Griffin and Wayne Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Wood, Dr. Joe Harpole, John Bradley, Dick Barlow, Bill Hepler, Kenneth Kemp, Quinton Boyett, W.B. Tanner, James Westbrook, Cy Harris, Ed Myers and his friends at Ethridge House.
He was born Aug. 25, 1921, in Obion County, son of the late Alfred Wayne and Eva Mae (White) Mansfield. He married the former Helen Sadler March 20, 1946. She died Jan. 30, 1996. He was a retired employee of the former Salant & Salant, having served as plant manager for several different plants. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran who had earned the rank of first sergeant with the 1176th MP Co. in World War II.
A member of Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church, he was also a former member of Union City Kiwanis Club and was an avid golfer and hunter.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Jeffrey A. Wilkinson of Paducah, Ky.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Alexander of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Mary-Helen Wilkinson of Boise, Idaho; seven great-grandchildren, Caitlin Alexander, Dennis Alexander, Jill Alexander, Connor Alexander and Holly Alexander, all of Bonners Ferry, and Hannah Rose Catt and Griffin Richardson, both of Boise.
He was also preceded in death by his great-grandaughter, Carolyn Alexander; and his sister, Annie V. Wrather.
