Union City police are investigating vandalism reported Monday to a Confederate statue in Kiwanis Park downtown and at the Obion County Museum on Edwards Street.
The statue at the north end of Kiwanis Park was damaged when words were written on its base. The writing appeared to have been done with crayon and did not appear to be permanent, according to a Union City Police Department report.
At the museum, located at 1004 Edwards St., graffiti had been spraypainted on the main building, as well as another building on site, police reported.
